My name is Nikola Marincakova and I was born in Slovakia. Since I was a child, I have always had a great passion and love for swimming. When I was 15 years old, with dedication and great commitment I became a member of the Finswimming National Team of Slovakia. Finswimming is a mysterious, beautiful and fast underwater sport which belongs altogether with Freediving, Underwater rugby, Underwater hockey, Underwater orienteering, Underwater photography and Sport diving in to ''The World Underwater Federation'' (Confederacion Mundial De Actividades Subacuaticas) ''CMAS''. As a multiple nation champion and national record holder I had been competing at the highest level of international competitions at the European and World Championships for over 10 years. My biggest achievements were nomination and participation at the World Games in Taiwan (2009) and in Colombia (2013).
During my swimming and competing career I was studying at the University of Sport and Physical Education in Bratislava (Slovakia) and graduated with Master's Degree in swimming and fitness. My teaching experience has started during my undergraduate studies in Swimming Academy Bratislava. After graduation and my last competition in 2013, I had made decision to moved to Miami for the increasing interest in swimming safety.
Florida is one of the top 3 states in US which has the highest number of casualties related to drowning. I have always believed in my vision that swimming program is essential in a place like Miami which is surrounded by water. Ability to swim prevents many accidents from happening.
In my ten years of teaching kids to swim experience, I have developed sense of balance in my approach, that focuses on loving water environment, overcoming fear of the unknown and gaining lifelong swimming and safety skill.
